I found a lump in my left breast a week ago, and saw the doctor yesterday for an examination, and she’s written me out a referral for an ultrasound.
As women’s breasts age, they become less fibrous and so a mammogram is able to pick up anything unusual. Anyone under about 50 will need an ultrasound.
I’m not too concerned, although I’m kind of dreading telling my mother. She had breast cancer when Wren was 18mths old, and although she’s fine and coped great with hers, I know she’ll be more worried about me.
What mother wouldn’t?
So I’m just popping out now for a cuppa and a bit of a chat with Mum, and then we’ll drop in to the radiologist’s office for a quick flash and dash.
Please do me a favour and have a grope for me now, okay?

hope it all goes well Janey - I have had both a mammogram and ultrasound for a breast lump before.
It is always worrying and you did the right thing getting it checked out. Also, reminding others to have a grope.take care
Trish’s last blog post..A little light hearted … why computers crash
Thank you, Trish.
I have to wait until Tuesday for the results, so the best thing to do is just not think too much.
Best wishes Jane, hope all goes well for you!!!!!! At my age I have a mammogram every year…

Thanks Heather
So does my mother, she’s been clear for over 5 years since her surgery now.
My thoughts are with you today! Best of luck at the doc’s!
Colleen’s last blog post..HAPPY BLOG-IVERSARY TO ME!
I hope your ultrasound gives good results. I have given up on self breast exams because I have fibrous cysts (lumpy boobs) and it is really hard to tell what is what. Yearly mammograms are a must for me. But I do not have a history of breast cancer in my family, thank goodness.
Thank you Colleen & happy blogversary
@Melissa ~It’s good to hear that my lumpy left boob could just be well… lumpy.
Never thought I’d be *hoping* I’d end up with lumpy boobs, though!
