Do you sign your name “Use a different account”?

Go fly a kiteI do. It’s the “in” thing around the blogosphere at the moment.

Want to join in? It goes like this.

You visit a blogger um, blog.

You read something really serious and sad and feel like crying for the poor woman.

You write a heartfelt response and sign it “take care of you”.

Then you enter the kfhdfhd word verification code and hope you read it correctly this time.

Underneath, your blogger account name is on display, but you choose the option where you can enter your name & URL instead.

Now, instead of copying and pasting your username (displayed above), carefully highlight the words “Use a different account”.

Paste it into the name field without bothering to read it.

Enter your URL, taking care that it is correct.

Check the URL again.

Click on the “PUBLISH YOUR COMMENT” button. No one ever uses the “PREVIEW” button.

Then discover, to your horror, that your name reads somewhat differently to how it normally does.

And you did enter the code right, for the first time ever, so you have no way of changing anything.

Dissolve in giggles and just hope the distraught blogger at the other end gets a laugh about it too.

Now, you have two choices.

You can change your name legally, or blog about it.
