Once was enough
So today is Mr Bump’s 5th birthday, and his second day of kindergarten.
He got up, found a couple of presents on his bed, brought them into Wren’s room, and ripped them open.
Then he went off to get dressed, and this is what he chose.
Yes, he knew it was a school day.
And yesterday’s photo proves that he knows where his uniform is kept.
So why was he not wearing it?
Because he wanted a “day off”.
School is just sooo stressful and draining.
First day of school for Mr Bump
I’ve been trying all day to upload a video of Mr Bump getting ready for his first day of school this morning, without success.
It’s only 783mb, and the limit for youtube is gb, so that’s not it.
But for some reason the upload process just goes on and on… and on.
I actually let it go while we ate dinner to see how long it would take, and after an hour and a half it was still going… and going.
So no video. Yet. This will not beat me, but for tonight I am admitting a (temporary) defeat.
He had a great day, by the way.
No tears, few complaints about my leaving and lots of things to show me when I arrived to pick him up in the afternoon.
The thing that most impressed him (as it should - I was impressed, too), was the Smartboard.
OMG it was amazing. I wish we had one of those when I was at school!
Oh, and Planning Queen would be really proud of how I organised all his school clothes into one drawer to make dressing easier for him.
First day of school

Because today is an extra-special day, I have two photos to share with you.
Left:
Mr Bump chose his pose when I asked him to stand and smile when entering school.
He cried “Wait! Wait!” and ran over to snuggle up to the drainpipe, fergossakes!
And the pose….
Whattheheck was that about?
Right:
That’s WH’s notebook and pen in his pocket.
Mr Bump has them because he just discovered he has a pocket on his shirt like daddy.
So of course daddy put his junk in there & then had a hellofatime getting them back.
All in all, a tear-free, extremely easy morning.
Soooo different from Wren’s first day, but that’s another story.
My babies are growing up

Cheeky little Mr Bump starts school in 3 weeks,
and my beautiful Wren moves on up into year 3,
which brings with it a new uniform for each of my babies.
Mwwwaaaaaah!

Mr Bump Goes to School
Sounds like the title of a new kid’s film, doesn’t it?
Also somehow reminiscent of a Mr Bean title, but without the stuff-ups, I hope.
My baby boy certainly couldn’t be getting ready for kindergarten yet, could he?
Turns out that yes, he could.
Today was the first visit for us for next year’s kindie intake at school.
Being a preschool day, part of the excitement for him was being taken out especially for this special event.
I was surprised at how quiet he was, although I probably shouldn’t have been. It didn’t take him long to warm up though, and start telling the teacher about our cat that isn’t ours.
We met in the school library and were treated to a story about a cat, read by one of the kindie teachers. She discussed the story with the children as she read, drawing them out and getting to know them a little.

I was exceedingly proud that Mr Bump was the only child to say “excuse me” before speaking, and he did so twice.
Aren’t I just a sickeningly besotted mum?
Because we were visiting school during the preschool lunchtime, we sat for a while in the car afterwards while my little man ate his lunch.
Or tried to. After just a few mouthfuls, he pronounced his tummy full. I think there was just too much going on to focus on food.
Then Mr Bump returned to preschool for the afternoon, doubtless to regale them all with tales of his big-school exploits.
