This is a meme that I found about from browsing through Susan’s Blog; One-Woman Show. The original meme information is here. You need to list five things that you’d like your children to know before they grow up.
It’s something we think & talk about a lot here, so I suppose my answers may seem a little serious for some people. I take parenting very seriously, sometimes too seriously. I really have to try hard to relax and just let things flow a little.
- How to manage their finances ~ extremely important!
- How to do a really good verbal put-down ~ mainly because I’ve never been able to do it, and it can be really effective at times.
- How to stick with something despite setbacks ~ I believe that persistence is vital to get anywhere in life.
- How to have a discussion instead of an argument ~ Hubby & I don’t agree on everything, but we rarely scream and shout about it. Hopefully the kids will learn to communicate as well as we do someday, but for now they’re really good at the loud stuff!
- How to let things go when it’s not that important, and just have a good time.
I would add that I want them to know we love them more than life itself, but I think they already have a pretty good idea of that ![]()

I had a million and five things pop in my head about what I’d like my kids to know. I should write them a book. I’m a bit of a control freak though. Some of they will not want to know! Enjoyed it!
A book would be a good idea: I write letters to Wren & Mr Bump and have a notebook for each that I put little notes in. When they’re older I think it will be interesting for them to read…
Oooohhh.. I love this! I can feel a post coming on, LOL! It would be hard to restrict it to five, though.
PreSchool Mama’s last blog post..12 Ways to Raise an Emotionally Aware Child
Hi Preschool Mama, I’ll be checking out your blog to see what you come up with for this!
This is an excellent meme, for me, though, I would have to call it:
Things I Should Have Taught My Children Well, lol
Cassie/Irishcoda’s last blog post..Finally Feline Friday: Opposites
lol Cassie ~ maybe you’ll be able to use the list on the grandkids
hi jane - thanks for doing my meme - is amazing to see how it goes around the world and does the rounds - and faciniating to see waht everyone writes!
Hi fireball, it was really thought provoking

Of course since I forgot to add my link to your site until a week later, maybe I should be hoping that Wren & Mr Bump learn how to remember what they were about to do….
I sure can’t!
