Window Clings
by Jane on Thursday, 10th April 2008

These are some fantastic gifts I gave the kids for Christmas, made with my own fair hands.

Wren loved Polly Pocket and Littlest Pet Shop at the time (but she’s all grown up now & this afternoon will probably be watching High School Musical ~yech).

Mr Bump was really into Thomas & Friends. Now he’s 4 and it’s pirates.

Nothing is as constant as change itself…

I bought some window paints from a local craft store and printed out some related colouring pages from the internet (thank you Google).

Then, once they were asleep each night, I got to work tracing outlines in the black paint onto some plastic display sleeves.
I sticky-taped the pictures in place to be on the safe side.

Next stage was filling in the colours. Note: make sure you have the right colours. Thomas looks really dumb in purple. I know.

I left them to dry for a couple of days and then cut them into separate pieces and slid them into envelopes, with ‘lots of hugs and kisses from Mummy’. And the kids’ names. Don’t forget their names. Polly fans do not appreciate fat controller window clings. I know this too.

These were very popular gifts. Expect some special requests for extra pieces.

I also made a couple for myself. But make sure the paint is completely dry (a couple of days should do) before you put them up, or else you will see this happening: droopy window clings. Hmmm.

Pray, excuse the fuzzy pictures.

It’s a new camera and I’m still getting to grips with the thing…
