Window Clings Recipe ~ Beware! Failed Project!
A friend told me that you can easily make the paint for window-clings by mixing pvc glue with a drop of food colouring.
I have to say that my own experience was less than pleasing, so I think I’ll stick (excuse the pun) with the store-bought products. Perhaps her pvc glue is expecially thick? And she must use some other sort of plastic backing, because I couldn’t peel them off at all.
I’ll give her instructions here in case you can get it to work ~by all means, please let me know if you do!
To make black outlines, add black powdered paint. ~The ‘paint’ needs to be thick to form clean lines.
If you don’t have black powdered paint, you can just use regular pvc glue. It will dry clear, and the colours will appear to ‘float’.
Use an empty glue bottle (or any other bottle with a nozzle) to apply it. Let the outlines dry before filling in with colours.
Mix glue and liquid food colouring in a container and you can just use a small brush to fill in the design with as many colours as you like.
Paint your design onto a plastic sleeve from a display book or folder and let it dry. After a few hours, gently peel the cling off the plastic and apply to a clean window.
I should say that experiments at our house show that clean windows are not that necessary.
Not at all, really.
In fact, we have some extra dirt & grime here if anyone wants some.
