This is a fun craft project that Mr Bump & I put together from leftover bits and pieces around the house.
As you can see, the clock face is a paper plate left over from Christmas. The patty pans came from a shop~bought muffin mix pack, and the straw hands are just… well, drinking straws.
You will need:
- Paper plate
- Cupcake patty pans
- Texta
- Glue
- 2 bendy straws
- Scissors
- Sticky tape
What to do:
- Make 12 evenly spaced dots around the edge of your paper plate, where you will glue the patty pans.
- Write numbers 1 to 12 inside the patty pans and glue them into place
- Cut your 2 bendy straws to two different lengths, to make long and short hands. The bendy part will sit in the hole, with some left at the back of the plate to be stuck in place.
- Using scissors, make a hole in the center of the plate and poke the bendy straws through, one at a time. Then tape their ends to the back of the plate. They should be able to bend and be moved to point at the numbers.
Other thoughts:
- You could also use string for the clock hands, taped at the back of the plate. With a small piece of blutak on the other end of each ‘hand’, they can be moved around to change the time.
- Let your child search magazines for the numbers 1 to 12, then cut them out and stick them into the patty pans instead of writing them.
