Dona Nobis Pacem
Welcome to this year’s first Blog Blast for Peace, and my first one ever. Yes *blush* I’m a virgin no longer.
Peace is such a broad topic that it’s been hard to fix on something specific to write about.
I thought about being flip and discussing the brawls we have in the UpsideDownHouse each school morning, when Wren refuses to get out of bed.
But it seemed too trivial when I think about what each morning must be like for families in war~torn countries like Sudan, Somalia, Congo and the Ivory Coast. And that’s just in Africa.
Our own family is incredibly lucky to be born here in Australia. There is no war, no famine, no threatening neighbours about to bomb or invade.
We have enough of everything we need, and everything we want.
My children don’t have to miss school or risk injury because there’s fighting in the streets. They are driven to school and preschool, where they are pampered and loved almost as much as they are at home.
My widowed mother is allowed to live her own life, on her terms.
WonderHubby & I are able to plan ahead, knowing that those plans will not be disrupted by local gangs and posessions and savings stolen.
My daughter and I are safe to be alone in the house without fearing for our safety. We can walk down the street without being dragged aside and raped or bashed.
I truly hope that we are able to make a real difference with today’s statement;
