WonderHubby’s Comfort Food for Lucky Wives

WonderHubby's Vegetative Vegetable OmeletteWonderHubby’s Masterpiece Omelette is one of my very very favouritest foods ever, and my wonderful, fantastic, incredibly kind husband is kind enough to cook it for me about once a week in Winter.

I also love Campbell’s Split Pea & Ham soup, french toast and scrambled eggs.

These are the foods that I come crawling back to when I’ve had an especially tiring day, things just haven’t gone right, or my brain has gone on holiday again and I’ve reached a vegetative state.

Stuff You’ll Need:

6 large eggs
Dash of milk
Herbs, salt & pepper
100g diced bacon
100g grated cheese
Chopped radish
Sliced tomato
20cm frypan

How to Create WonderHubby’s Masterpiece Omlette:

Fry 100g diced bacon in a 20cm frypan, then leave to drain on some paper kitchen towel.

Preheat oven to 200ºC.

Take 6 eggs, beat with a dash of milk and add herbs & spices to taste.

Pour into frypan and stir on medium heat until it starts to thicken.

Stir in cheese, radish and bacon and place slices of tomato on top.

Cook in oven for a couple of minutes, until firmed. Check with a fork to see if it’s ready.

No need to flip, and if you use a non~stick frypan, the thing can go straight in the dishwasher with no yicky pans in the sink to bother with.

Serves two hungry parents in vegetative states.

Puff Paint Recipe

I’ve had this recipe for a few years and haven’t actually tried it until now because Wren & Mr Bump have such sensitive skin.

Then it suddenly occurred to me that they don’t have to lather their hands with it.
We actually have some paintbushes in the house!

What a great idea: Painting with paintbrushes. D’oh.

Okay, so I’m not exactly painting with a full palette at the moment…

Bath Salts Recipe

Wren loves adding nice~smelling, colourful stuff to the bathtub and having a soak.

The problem is that she’s not that sparing with her sprinkling, and those sprinkles don’t come cheap.

So this is an easy & cheap way for mums of girls keep up with the demand for bath salts. Not to mention fun for the kids to make.

Home~Made Pumpkin Soup

Home~made pumpkin soupThis is a totally scrummy recipe that WonderHubby has developed over years of trial and error, with me as the innocent guinea pig.

Now, I am not a fan of pumpkin. I don’t even like it in baked dinners.
But this… oh, this!

And on top of that, it’s extremely healthy.

But please don’t tell my kids that.

Anzac Biscuits Recipe

Since it’s Anzac Day, we’ll be baking up a batch of Anzac Bickies today.

I had planned to add a photo once they were done, but I got so caught up in eating cooking them, that I just plain forgot.

This is my Mum’s recipe & it’s super-yum, so I hope you’ll give it a try and let me know what you think.

Window Clings Recipe ~ Beware! Failed Project!

A friend told me that you can easily make the paint for window-clings by mixing pvc glue with a drop of food colouring.

I have to say that my own experience was less than pleasing, so I think I’ll stick (excuse the pun) with the store-bought products. Perhaps her pvc glue is expecially thick? And she must use some other sort of plastic backing, because I couldn’t peel them off at all.

I’ll give her instructions here in case you can get it to work ~by all means, please let me know if you do!

Play Dough Recipe

My friend Solveig swears by this recipe; apparently it lasts for months. On Friday she came over to show us how it’s done.

Solveig’s son Daniel is Mr Bump’s best friend at pre-school and the boys & Daniel’s sister Rebekah had a ball adding the ingredients and mixing them in the pot. We made ours green, because that’s Mr Bump’s favourite colour.

Paper Mache Glue Recipe

Wren and I used this glue to make her first~ever piñata for her 4th birthday party.

When it was time for the kids to have a bash at it, the d*mn thing was so strong that none of them could break it.

I kinda think we put a few too many layers on there…

Even when the ribbon holding it broke and the thing dropped to the ground, it didn’t break.
