Rear Window
I did take this photo to show how green our back yard has become since we started putting the washing water on it.
But as you can see, it’s more of an illustration of yet another job we have yet to do around the house.
The kitchen window was broken when we bought the house, and was first on the list for fixing, but would you believe that two different repairmen have failed to turn up?
(And then we had surgery & Christmas & I forgot to chase them)
In the current economy, wouldn’t you think that businesses would actually want work?
That’s just my whinge.
And yes, the glass is filthy. I’m afraid to clean it in case it shatters.
Otherwise it would be spotless.
Honestly.
~ By the way, I have taken photos on most days in the last week, but I’ve misplaced my camera.
So I’m not that big a slacker. Just a little one.
It just took me a while to think of borrowing Wren’s camera, like I did today.
D’oh!
For the love of a shower
On Tuesday, our hot water heater went kaput.
We thought.
I boiled a kettle & gave the kids a sponge bath.
WonderHubby found the details of the plumber who had installed it, and found that luckily it was still under warranty, having been installed just before we bought our new home.
So the plumber came out the next morning and pronounced the water heater A-OK.
It just wasn’t getting any power through.
Maybe it was the cut-off switch in the power box?
So he called an electrician, who came out that afternoon and declared the cut-off switch fine.
There was a broken power cable leading to the water heater’s fuse.
And he couldn’t fix it, but if we called the electricity company…
So we called the electricity company and they sent someone out that evening.
This is still Wednesday.
Well, it’s actually a matter of replacing the whole power box, because you see, your one is the old type, and we use a new one now and they’re not compatible (or something).
But the electricity company doesn’t do that work.
Sponge baths for all of us. Again.
WonderHubby called another electrician, who’d installed fans for us in November (and were really nice to deal with).
They’re busy until Friday or Saturday, but we’ll do our best to fit you in on Friday, “because we know you need a shower”.
Apparently they could smell that over the phone.
We took the hint and visited Grandma’s house for showers on Thursday evening.
So now it’s Friday afternoon, probably too late for our water to be hot by tonight.
And I am waiting to hear whether we will be rescued today or have to wait until tomorrow (and pay a weekend rate, into the bargain).
Did I mention that it’s the middle of Summer?
And deodorant? I’m warning you, I’m almost out.
If you have any heart at all or nasal sensitivities, you will be wishing (washing?) us all well.
The first cucumber

We picked the first of our armenian cucumbers tonight and WH & I were lucky to get any!
Wren & Mr Bump ate over 3/4 of it, and it was not a small cucumber, by any means.
And talk about deeelish!
Facebook and school days revisited
So I finally gave into WonderHubby’s urgings -
Not those urgings!
Get your mind out of the gutter, will you!
- and joined up with Facebook.
It’s been great catching up with the guys from school, and I’m even connecting with family on there.
At the same time, Wren has started the new school year and Mr Bump is due to do so on Monday.
Stay tuned for lots of cute ‘first day’ photos!
Quick, the inspector’s here!

Mr Underfoot decided to do a snap inspection of the vegie patch, to make sure we were doing things right.
He heartily approved of the trellis, which we put there so that he could scratch his back and not to grow the snow peas on.
Dry again…

Just a snap to show you how quickly our creek dried out.
The blue dot on the right is Mr Bump, the pink one in the middle is Wren & the dark dot on the left is WonderHubby.
Apparently they’re flying kites, but there doesn’t seem to be any sign of them in the picture.
Bumpy Crafting Apparel
Doesn’t everyone do craft in their Barbie dress?
The Mr Bump fashion range also includes stunning footwear, formal clothing and headwear accessories for the fashion~conscious man about town.
Olympic whirlpool fun

Spent the day at the Olympic Swim Centre today.
Look at the new play area they added just before Christmas!
We actually went because the kidz have been begging to visit “the whirlpool”, but it’s even better, now.
That huge blue thing at the top is a bucket that slowly fills, then tips out over everyone every few minutes.
We had an absolute ball!
A new reality unfolds…
I was doing some bloghopping this evening & loved what Kirsten at The Soccer Mom Files is working on at the moment.
It’s a new reality show detailing the love-life of…. well, you’ll just have to go see for yourself.
Let me just say that I’m gifted with foresight, and there’ll be enough adultery, blood and betrayal to satisfy the most lowbrow audience.
Here’s the first episode… er, post… and you can go on from there.
Enjoy!
Flash flood!

We had quite a heavy rainstorm this afternoon, with a blackout as well,
which the kidz found quite exciting.
After the downfall had eased, WonderHubby noticed that the creek behind our place was suddenly full.
We all rushed out to take a photo, but it had already subsided a lot in only a few minutes.
We often take them out there to play and run around when it’s not too hot. It was a great opportunity to show the kids how dangerously fast the flat, grassy area can fill up.
