Anzac Biscuits Recipe

Since it’s Anzac Day, we’ll be baking up a batch of Anzac Bickies today.

I had planned to add a photo once they were done, but I got so caught up in eating cooking them, that I just plain forgot.

This is my Mum’s recipe & it’s super-yum, so I hope you’ll give it a try and let me know what you think.

Plants Nearing Prime & Possibly Pneumonia

I’m going to try to keep this short today, because I’m off back to the doctor’s with this lousy cough, which has moved down into my chest and become quite painful.

That can’t be good, can it?

Pneumonia?

Well I doubt it, really, but the alliteration was just too tempting.

~Although strictly speaking it’s not really alliteration, is it?

Shower Hack Job

I finally got fed up with my hair this morning in the shower and attacked it with the pair of rusty, bluntened scissors we keep in the laundry (near our 2nd shower).

Seriously.

And it’s not the first time I’ve done this.

I’d been meaning to go to the hairdresser’s for weeks, but hadn’t had the energy, what with starting some new anxiety medication and a bonus course of antibiotics.

Plus I haven’t had a hairdresser I’m happy with for years. I usually just go into the nearest one on the spur-of-the-moment.

I was too terrified to look in the mirror for over an hour.

There was a huge clump of hair in the bottom of the shower recess.

What would WonderHubby say?

What would my mother say? (yes, I know I’m over 30, but she still scares me sometimes)

Amazingly, it didn’t turn out too badly.

Thank GOD.

I’m actually feeling quite happy with the result, considering. (I’ve definitely had worse ‘dos’.)

WonderHubby likes it, too.

My mother hasn’t seen it yet, though.

I’m really going to try really hard not to do this ever again.

Really.

What do you think?

Please be honest…

Window Clings Recipe ~ Beware! Failed Project!

A friend told me that you can easily make the paint for window-clings by mixing pvc glue with a drop of food colouring.

I have to say that my own experience was less than pleasing, so I think I’ll stick (excuse the pun) with the store-bought products. Perhaps her pvc glue is expecially thick? And she must use some other sort of plastic backing, because I couldn’t peel them off at all.

I’ll give her instructions here in case you can get it to work ~by all means, please let me know if you do!

School Holiday Sanity

On the subject of entertaining the kids over the holidays, I bet I would have had no problems if they had one of these to play in.

But, since they don’t, I’ve come up with a list of great FREE things to do with the kids in order to keep myself sane.

Party Loot Treasure Chests

I’ve made up a printout for this project. You’ll probably need to muck around with the scale in ‘print preview’, because I’m new to this.

And the photo isn’t ‘one I made earlier’. It’s one from a party that Mr Bump attended.

So I’m lazy today. :P
The timber floorboards are real. Does that help?

You will need:

  • A4 cardboard
  • This template
  • Pencils or textas to decorate

What to do:

  • Print the template on cardboard and cut out the shape. Thinner lines are for folding, not cutting.
  • Let little Johnny or Jenny colour it in or paint it.
  • Then fold it and glue it and mark it with ‘B’. (But don’t put it in the oven because it will start a fire and they might not get there quickly enough to save your house.)
  • Fill with party goodies and scoff some down while you’re at it. The sugar will tide you over until mealtime.
  • Drink some red cordial too, if you’re really tired (or if the kids are really rowdy).

Other Thoughts:

  • Cut out some pictures for younger kids to glue on.
  • Draw some pictures for the kids to colour in.
  • Great lollies for this type of party are chocolate money, candy jewellery and jewels (or clear boiled lollies).

Party ‘Till Your Daddy Drops

Busy day relaxing today.

Hubby took Mr Bump to a 5yo party in the park.

Mr Bump came home wide awake (we hoped he’d fall asleep in the car) and hasn’t stopped all afternoon. He’s fine.

But Daddy needed a nap.

Wren had a 7yo party up the street, where they’re doing High School Musical performances with a huge projector screen backdrop.

Unfortunately, I had to come home and watch Mr Bump so Daddy could nap.

Such a shame to miss it.

Although we don’t live that far away, so if I get really suicidal miss their dulcet tones, I can just walk out the front with my foxy grandma ear trumpet.

The ordeal party should be over by about 5.30, so then we get to listen to Wren endlessly singing 2 lines of the same song over and over. Into her hairbrush.

I can’t wait.

Bet you didn’t know you could raise free range guinea pigs, did you?

Mr Bump & I spent the afternoon terrorising cuddling with the guinea pigs and discovering more freaky fungi in the backyard.

Blogging Guilt-Free

After being sick last week and feeling cr*ppy about not replying to comments, and generally feeling cr*ppy about everything else too, I found Mrs. Flinger’s Blog Guilt Free revolution and my life was changed :P
Seriously though, I do tend to take blogging every day wwwaaaaayyy too seriously.

I mean, who reads this stuff really?

So I hereby give myself permission to slack off.

To be sick, to run errands, to forget (as if) and to basically not give a flying flip about posting.

But only sometimes. I promise.

Window Clings

These are some fantastic gifts I gave the kids for Christmas, made with my own fair hands.

Wren loved Polly Pocket and Littlest Pet Shop at the time (but she’s all grown up now & this afternoon will probably be watching High School Musical ~yech).

Mr Bump was really into Thomas & Friends. Now he’s 4 and it’s pirates.

Nothing is as constant as change itself…
